If you're like me, you've got a dozen DeWalt 20V (or18V) batteries laying around, and a bunch of tools. However, you don't want to exclusively stick to DeWalt branded tools. Maybe they don't make the tool you need or you just want a less expensive option, without getting a whole new set of batteries and chargers. In Canada, that's the Canadian Tire house brand of tools and their universal PWR POD system...
This kit of parts will give you a 2-pole adapter, connecting your DeWalt battery to most of the PWR POD tools. The following brands use the PWR Pod system:
- MotoMaster
- Mastercraft
- Yardworks
- Outbound
- Simoniz
- Noma
- Woods
- Vermont Castings
Assembly instructions in PDF will be supplied with . Its not overly difficult, but you must be familiar with basic wiring methods.
Notes:
DO NOT use this adapter for charging...! There are no balancing connections in this adapter, which could result in a fire if an out of balance battery is charged.
I have not tested every tool from every brand. Some tools have enclosed batteries, which probably will not work due to the space needed (for water pumps, sprayers, etc.)
There may be tools that have 3 conductors in the battery port. This adapter will still fit that case, but it will not connect to the 3rd tab. The 3rd tab is probably for temperature sensing (a thermistor). The only tool I'm aware of with the 3rd tab is the Mastercraft chainsaw (PN: 054-5792-6). The pole saw may also have this issue (PN: 054-0370-0). I will try to find one, and see how this works. If I can update the adapter to add the extra function, you'll get the update for free. Till then, it might not work with those tools or any other with the 3rd tab. If you have a chance, please try it and let me know!
Yardworks is not related to the Worx brand. This adapter does not fit Worx tools.
The Mastercraft 'MAXIMUM' brand of tools uses yet another battery design (why???), so unfortunately this adapter will not fit that set.
I have added 2 extra files with the tag 'loose fit' on the end. These are the tool clamp and the battery clamp. If your printer happens to produce too much drag on the fit, please reprint with these files. They have 0.1mm removed from all clamping surfaces. The default parts were sized to create a snug but not tight fit, printed on a Bambu Labs P1S.
TOOLS NEEDED:

Recommend, DO NOT USE 'CCA' WIRE. (copper clad aluminum, its cheaper and all over amazon...)

12 AWG wire required, particularly for high draw + long duration use.
14 AWG wire is OK for medium to low current draw tools (use at your own risk)
