Yes, same here. I've tried 4 different types of potentiometers purchased online, and the movement is not linear in one direction. Makes it impossible to taxi the aircraft with the drastic direction change. Is there something we should alter in the code?

Hello, I have printed the complete set and am delighted with the quality and mechanics. But: I wired the potentiometer exactly as described. I also see movements in the system settings, but these are not linear at all. There is an area where the “Tiller movement” jumps extremely and then it runs much more smoothly. However, it is not a continuous, even movement. I have no idea what this could be due to. Unfortunately, I can't use the product properly. Thank you and best regards

Regarding the issue with the potentiometer movement: It’s definitely possible that the potentiometer itself has a manufacturing defect. This can sometimes lead to irregular or jumpy signals like the ones you’re seeing. I would recommend trying a different potentiometer (ideally from a different batch or supplier) to rule out any hardware faults.

It might also be helpful to check if the potentiometer shaft moves smoothly through its full range. If there’s any mechanical resistance, dirt, or uneven movement, that could also cause inconsistent readings.

Lastly, I’d recommend looking into this topic online — there are many hobbyist and DIY forums that cover similar issues, especially in projects involving anaputs and control levers. Maybe others have experienced something similar.

I love the design and simple print at home. I'd like to suggest for a future edit that you consider adjusting the holes to accept heat set inserts. They make 3D printed parts assembly much more durable.

Well, I seem to have run into an issue. I have printed the parts all exactly as they've been saved on the file and the only difference I've made is setting the layer height. I'm not sure if this printed smaller than it needed to, but the pro micro board is too long to fit in the grooves. I don't think it's a scaling issue, only because all of the parts otherwise line up and the bearing and pentiometer both fit properly in their spaces.

Not quite sure how to rectify this. Any help would be appreciated!

The Pro Micro boards are all different sizes depending on who makes it. Mine is too long also.

Hello, thank you for your remark.
What connection does your Arduino pro Micro have? It is important to know, that the Arduino pro Micro with USB-C is about 4 mm longer than the Arduino pro micro with micro USB. As depicted in the manual, the Tiller is designed to hold the Arduino pro micro with the micro USB-port. So could that be the reason for the misalignment?

This was indeed the problem that I was having. I had the USB C version. I got a micro USB one and it fits

Hi there,

now after using your tiller (or better: my mod) for quite a while, i'm into building my (new) home cokit with some printed parts using Arduino as well: Flaps, Spoiler, Thust-Lever ... (already built and working)
To save Arduinos i wanted to connect all the potis to one Micro Pro.

The Tiller-Ino is using Joystick.h and all the other mentioned UnoJoy.h.

As the other parts are "more" ... do you think it would be possible to convert your INO to UnoJoy as well, as i can't imagine that one Arduino is capable of running two Joystick-related libs....

As you maybe , i build your brilliant design with some minor changes and it workd like a charm immediately in FSX.

Now i switched to FS2020 and the Tiller is recognized as "Arduino" but i can't steer the wheel with it.
Do you know what to change in the INO file and / or FS settings?

Hi Kai,

Yes, I —I was really impressed with what you did with my design! To get it working in MSFS, you'll need to map the tiller axis to the nose gear steering axis in the sim. As a bonus tip: you can use the tiller movement of the A320 model in the simulator, along with the scale on your model tiller, to fine-tune the sensitivity. This will give you the most realistic steering experience possible.

No no. the honor is yours. You had the creativity about the whole mechanics and designed the marvelous handle.
I just made the frames inside a little simplier.

However, may it comes from that i own MSFS for 5 days now and i'm still learning a lot....but i haven't found the mentioned setting. When i go to the "Arduino" i see only L-Axis, L-Axis- and L-Axis+.
There is no steering wheel available.
When translating into German (Bugrad) i find fitting axis, but even when mapping, nothing happens.
Where is my mistake?

You can set the game to English, and search for "NOSE WHEEL STEERING AXIS" That should do the trick!

Sorry, i forgot to mention. In the meantime i figured it out.
As i don't use the stock A320 but the FBW (https://docs.flybywiresim.com/), i followed the description how to activate it beforehand....it's working like a charm.
For any other Flight Simulator i don't know how to use it.

Hey there! The largest part by printed-area is the Table Clamp Mount with 164 mm x 134 mm. If this part can fit on your printbed your printer is sufficiently large to print all other Parts.

Hi, I just bought it and am looking forward to the assembly, but am a bit of a newbie to 3D printing. Can you tell which material (PLA, ABS, PETG, ASA, Nylon, PC, etc.) you recommend for each part? Also, is 20% filling enough, or do some parts require more?

Hi! Thanks for reaching out! For beginners, PLA is the most -friendly material to work with. It's easy to print and generally doesn't require a heated bed. However, keep it away from direct sunlight or high heat, as it can soften. For most parts, a 20% infill should be sufficient, but if you need extra strength, you can increase it to 40%.

As for layer heights, print the handle with a 0.1 mm layer height for added strength and detail. You can use a 0.2 mm layer height for the rest, which will save time without compromising quality. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

Outstanding design! Really printed well. I am having issues centering the Potentiometer to where I can get full travel (LH75 to RH75), is there a certain way to clock it during installation? I wasn't able to find the Potentiometer called out in the drawings (DP6-10K-M-P Potentiometer 10kΩ) so I used one from PiShop that was a 10K with 265Deg of electrical travel. So I assume this is close. Where am I going wrong? Thanks again for an excellent design.

I have made a newer version, which mades two mappings . low to center, and center to high, for the "perfect" center position"
I will merge the changes to the .ino fiule int he next hours!

Hey there,

small update....

After i figured out my struggles with the INO (between my ears) today it is working like charme.
Taxiing is now so much more easy ... lets say cute...
Thanks a lot for this brilliant design!

I have some more small ideas but for now i will leave for a 5-day off with my wife, so no FSX, no printing, no Arduino.

For any further conversation i would recommend leaving this comment area. Any ideas?

Hi there,

just a small update.

Here (https://i.ibb.co/p3JCBQS/Kais-Tiller-Preview.jpg) you can see a preview. As soon as it stops raining here (i saw an old man yesterday building a boat) i will be able to build my desired wooden housing, what has to be done in the garden outside.

As you can see, i simplified the parts inside a little and could leave out off the housing, the base plate and the stopper.

Hehe, winter weather, or the big flood is coming.. who knows... I hoped you stayed dry :) The fotos looked amazing, that was the goal. Taxiing in the simulator is often a big pain. I am glad that with our product this is a thing from the past :)

Ok, what i'm going to do with your brilliant design is to change it in the way, that:
1) instead of using a 1 x PBS 110 Push Button i will use a small 6x6 mm push button
2) won't use the housing, as i build it with wood holding some other things
But your desing, especially the handle, is marvelous.
