I am a retired pensioner, producing models as full-time as an old creature can. Currently, my designs are limited by my very slow 100mm/s 14cm cold bed printer with no AMS.

All money received on Cults3d from our generous patrons gets saved in PayPal towards our new printer.

Probably 95% of my models are still open priced, if you want to try a few of the others first. I'm not gonna lie, this one is everyone's favourite by a large margin....

I find it best to tilt over backwards until the slicer shows a minimal amount of exceeded overhangs.

Example printed at 100% scale, 0.14mm layers, 10% infill, grid pattern, 2 skins, inside then outsideorder... It will get better as you increase the size..

The STL file version has hollow compartments to save material, if you use auto s, make sure to delete the ones it might place inside the head to save time

If you have AMS like Bambu I included a, OBJ format file (it doesn't have a base but is my original model.

If you want it to stand flat I suggest making a slice where you want it done, alternatively adding a hole for a rod is another idea, or you could just poke a hole or drill one afterwards....

Please note that the OBJ file is in OBJ format with vertex colors. To print it, you need to import it into Bambu Studio v1.10 or later version and map the colors.

To achieve the best results with this detailed sculpt:

Recommended Machine Type:
* FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling)
* Resin (SLA/DLP): Highly recommended for achieving the finest detail, especially if painting.

Materials:
* FDM: PLA+ or PETG are excellent choices for good detail and ease of printing. Silk PLA can give an interesting sheen.
* Resin: Standard, ABS-like, or specialized modeling/tough resins. Grey resin is often a good base for painting.

Print Settings (General Recommendations - Fine-tune to Your Specific Printer):
* Layer Height (FDM):
* 0.08mm - 0.16mm is CRUCIAL for preserving the smooth curves and subtle facial details. Printing at 0.08mm can yield near-imperceptible layer lines.
* Infill (FDM): 5% - 15% is typically sufficient for a display bust.
* s (FDM):
* Yes, s are essential. Focus on ing the chin, the underside of the head (especially the back), and any pronounced brow or cheekbone overhangs.
* Tree s (organic s) are highly recommended for FDM to minimize points on the visible surfaces and allow for easier removal.
* Resin Printing:
* Requires careful orientation to minimize s on focal areas (like the face) and a robust strategy.
* Ensure proper hollowing and drain holes if printing a larger version to save resin.
* Approximate Size (Default):80mm tall]

Assembly:
* This model is designed as a Two piece bust. No assembly is required after printing (aside from removing s).

Finishing (Bringing Your Alien to Life!):
* Removal: Carefully remove all s. For FDM, use flush cutters and a hobby knife if needed. For resin, remove s before final curing for easier removal (depending on resin type).
* Sanding (FDM): Light sanding, especially on interface areas, can create a smoother surface for painting.
* Priming: A good quality primer (grey is often best for aliens) will provide an excellent base for acrylic paints.
* Painting: This is where your creativity shines! Classic greys, greens, or even more unconventional colors can look fantastic. Pay attention to the eyes to give them depth and an otherworldly feel. Washes and dry brushing can enhance details.
* Varnish: A matte or satin varnish can protect your paint job and give a professional finish.
